About the Area

Killeen is a "principal city" of the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood Metropolitan Area located in Bell County on Hwy 190 and West of I-35. It is approximately 50 miles Southwest of Waco and about 60 miles North of the capital city of Austin. Killeen is the home of Fort Hood, the Army's premiere military installation, and as such, its economy is heavily dependent on the post, the soldiers, and their families stationed there. Recreation here is plentiful with 31 parks, two swimming pools, 32 lighted tennis courts and a municipal golf course. Stillhouse Hollow Lake and Belton Lake are less than a 20 minute drive away.
